    Chambersburg man wanted by State Police on rape, other charges dies

    FRANKLIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A Franklin County man who was wanted on rape and other sexual assault charges has died.

    Online court documents show that the charges against Victor Vanvranken, 35, of Chambersburg, were dismissed after his death.

    Victor was wanted on multiple felony charges of rape forcible compulsion, statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a person less than 16 years of age, aggravated indecent assault, corruption of minors and endangering the welfare of children. He also had misdemeanor charges of indecent assault of a person less than 16 years of age filed against him.

    Also charged is Victor’s mother, Jane Vanvranken, who is accused of helping him avoid arrest by hiding him in her home, helping him change his phone number and also by getting him a vehicle, according to State Police. Jane was charged with two felony counts of hindering apprehension or prosecution.

    Currently, Jane is out on unsecured bail that was set at $25,000. She is scheduled to be formally arraigned in Franklin County Court on Oct. 9.

    An arrest warrant for Victor was obtained by Pennsylvania State Police on April 1.
