JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WTAJ) — Nearly four years after 43-year-old Jilly Todaro went missing, charges were filed against her accused killer— Brian Giles.

Giles, who was already convicted of murdering his wife Nancy, was charged with homicide in the death of Todaro after her body was found buried in the basement of his former residence earlier this year.

Lees said forensic examination and testing were completed at Mercyhurst University. Todaro sustained nasal and maxima fractures which were perimortem, defined as at or near the time of death.

He followed that by saying these bone fractures are only due to hangings, strangulations or massive blunt force trauma. Lees ruled her death a homicide through suspected strangulations.

Johnstown Chief of Police Cory Adams was asked if he believed Giles was a predator during the press conference.

“I think you hit the nail on the head, he was a predator,” Adams said.

Right before he was convicted for his wife’s murder, police began searching Giles’ former residence after receiving what they called “concerning” information from him.

Less than 24 hours after he was convicted, police found Todaro’s remains.

Giles was sentenced on Aug. 13 to life in prison. During the press conference, District Attorney Greg Neugebauer spoke about the possibility of the Commonwealth seeking the death penalty against Giles.

“There are lots of factors that go into that, lots of considerations that go into that, and we are going to very carefully consider that,” Neugebauer.

Neugebauer followed this up by saying he thinks this case will go to trial.

“I expect there to be a trial in this case, and we look forward to it,” Neugebauer said.
