13-year-old killed, teen hospitalized after stabbing at party in Madera, police say
A 13-year-old has died and another teen is hospitalized after they were stabbed outside of a party in Madera late Saturday night.The stabbing happened just before midnight in the area of Sonora Street and Sherwood Way.Madera police say the 13-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy were at a quinceaƱera when a fight broke out near the parking area.During the fight, officials say both boys were stabbed.They were both taken to the hospital, where the 13-year-old boy later died.The 15-year-old was last reported in critical condition.Neighbors who live in the area tell Action News, they were shocked to hear of the...
Man dies after being hit by car in Madera
The Madera Police Department is investigating a deadly pedestrian collision.A 53-year-old man was hit by a car on Raymond Road, north of Cleveland Avenue, just after 9 pm on Saturday.Officers found the man lying in the Southbound lane with injuries to his head and body.He died at the scene.Officials say a 71-year-old man was driving the car that hit the victim and is cooperating with law enforcement.Authorities say the collision is still under investigation.
Evacuation orders lifted for Granite Fire in Mariposa County
Crews are working to contain a wildfire that broke out in Mariposa County on Saturday.The Granite Fire is burning on Highway 132 near Narcisco Way and Piney Creek.The fire burned about 55 acres and is 75% contained as of Sunday.It initially prompted several evacuation orders which have all been lifted.This is a developing story. Some parts of Fresno Chaffee Zoo likely to close due to heat
Multiple experiences at the Fresno Chaffee Zoo are anticipated to close on Saturday due to the heat.Officials say that the butterflies, Roo Walkabout and Bird Show will be closed to keep both guests and animals safe once the temperature reaches 110 degrees.Temperatures are forecasted to reach as high as 114 degrees on Saturday. That is one degree lower than Fresno's record high of 115, which was set back in 1905.Zoo officials say to visit their website to stay updated.
14 displaced after mobile home park fire in Merced County, officials say
Several people are now displaced after a fire broke out at a mobile home park in Merced County.Crews responded just before 3 am Saturday on Mercury Street near Comet Road, in Santa Nella.When firefighters arrived, they saw a mobile home fully engulfed in flames.The fire spread to several other structures.The Red Cross says 14 people are displaced due to the fire.The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Suspect in deadly central Fresno shooting of 42-year-old arrested
Police have arrested the suspect in a central Fresno shooting that killed 42-year-old Yong Vang.41-year-old Robert Phompong is in the Fresno County jail.He was arrested Wednesday on Olive near Millbrook in a search warrant operation related to drugs and illegal gambling.Officers have been searching for him for months following the April 8 shooting of 42-year-old Yong Vang.He was found injured next to a pickup on Ninth Street near Pine Avenue.He was taken to the hospital, where he died.Detectives believe Vang and Phompong were fighting before the shooting.
22-year-old man killed in head-on crash in Merced County, CHP says
A 22-year-old man is dead, and four others, including a child, are injured following a head-on crash in Merced County.The California Highway Patrol says calls of a crash came in just after 4:30 p.m. Thursday on Canal School Road, just north of Highway 33.Officers say a 22-year-old man from the city of Seaside was driving a 2017 Nissan south on Canal School Road and, for an unknown reason, crossed into the northbound lanes, colliding head-on with a 2002 Chevrolet.Investigators say the 22-year-old man was not wearing a seatbelt during the crash and died at the scene.His passenger, a 22-year-old woman who has not been identified, and two adults in the Chevrolet were taken to hospitals in Modesto with major to minor injuries.A 2-year-old boy in the Chevrolet was taken to Valley Children's Hospital in Madera for his injuries.Officers say drugs or alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.

All evacuation warnings and orders lifted in residential areas for French Fire in Mariposa County
The Mariposa County Sheriff's Office lifted all evacuation warnings and orders in residential areas for the French Fire on Sunday morning.The fire started on July 4 around 6 pm in the area of Highway 49 and French Camp Road.According to the latest update from CAL FIRE, the fire has burned at least 908 acres and is 45% contained.Crews built a fire line around the eastern side of Mariposa to protect the town from the fire.The cause of the fire is still under investigation.Highway 140 has reopened with traffic controls from Old Highway North to Grojean Road.
