SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Just after 9 a.m. Monday morning, Spanish Fork Fire responded to a reported chemical explosion on the northern side of Spanish Fork, according to a Spanish Fork Fire Department press release.

Crews were called to a Nature’s Sunshine Products facility located at 1655 North Main Street. The incident was originally called in as a commercial fire. The company creates health gummies that are distributed in grocery stores.

When crews arrived, they determined there was a flash explosion that burned out very quickly, the press release states.

Spanish Fork Fire stated that all employees were evacuated from the building as a precaution until it was determined that there was no further threat. Two employees received minor injuries and were treated on scene.

“The building fire alarm and fire sprinklers functioned properly,” the release said.

Units from Payson Fire & EMS, Mapleton Fire & EMS, and Utah Valley Hazmat all responded to the incident.

According to Spanish Fork City Fire, the incident is currently under investigation by the Spanish Fork Fire Marshal. No other information from the city is available at this time.

This is a developing story. ABC4 will update this post as new information becomes available.
