DAVIS COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — A woman broke her leg and had to be rescued after she fell down on the Deuel Creek Trail in Davis County on Labor Day morning.

According to Davis County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue, a family was on a hike near the Deuel Creek Trail’s south trailhead when a 38-year-old female lost her balance and fell.

Person struck, killed by train in Sunset, UTA says

The woman suffered a lower leg fracture, causing her to be unable to hike out without being assisted.

“It was determined the best course of action would be to transport her down the trail [in] a [rescue basket],” Davis County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) said in a post on Facebook.

South Davis Metro Fire helped Davis County Sheriff’s with the operation — it took both groups a while to get the woman back to the trailhead as she was trapped in an area that required extra rope support to get her out.

DCSO stated that it took the two entities several hours to get the woman back to the trailhead, where an ambulance was waiting to take her to a local hospital.

The woman, who was kept anonymous by authorities, was taken to an area hospital in stable condition.
