PARK CITY, Utah (ABC4) — Park City Police Captain Rob McKinney was internationally recognized as a top police official.

Park City Police Department (PCPD) made the announcement Sept. 5 on Facebook.

McKinney was named to the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) “40 under 40” list.

McKinney started his policing career as a state trooper with Utah Highway Patrol in 2008, he joined PCPD in 2014 working his way up to the rank of Captain.

“Captain McKinney is highly respected for his approachability and dedication to his departments and the community. He participates in community events such as Shop with a Cop, Faith in Blue, Coffee with Cop, and others,” a release from the IACP said.

PCPD said on Facebook awardees represent rising leaders in the field, regardless of rank. PCPD noted officers honored serve communities worldwide and hail from six countries.

“Under Captain McKinney’s command, his bureau prioritizes serving the underrepresented citizens of the Park City community,” the IACP said. “He oversees initiatives such as the Latino Driver’s License program, which enabled more than 200 community members to obtain valid driver’s licenses in Utah, increasing their ability to obtain employment and lawfully operate a motor vehicle.”

McKinney also served in various roles from SWAT team operator to overseeing the department’s field operations bureau.

“My motivation in law enforcement comes from the countless selfless acts performed by my colleagues on a daily basis,” McKinney said in the release from IACP.
