    Friday 4: Fun-filled weekend with live music, storytelling, art, and the Utah State Fair

    SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Getting ready for the weekend and looking for something fun to do? You may want to check out these events in our Friday 4. From live music to storytelling, arts, and the first weekend of the Utah State Fair, there are plenty of exciting activities to choose from.

    Slam Music Festival:

    Where: Downtown Farmers Market at Pioneer Park

    When: Sept. 7 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

    What: The Slam Music Festival will be jamming at Pioneer Park this weekend as part of a collaboration between The Blocks Art District and the Salt Lake Academy of Music. The free festival celebrates young Utah musicians who will be performing throughout the day. Artists slated to play include four-piece rock/alternative band Unseen , Folk/Americana singer Scarlet Kathryn , indie, pop, and rap artist Manuel!, pop-punk group Riff Wood , indie folk group Calico, and Jazz fusion band Teddy P .

    (Slam Music Festival)

    Springville Art Festival:

    Where: Springville Civic Center Park, 110 S. Main Street

    When: Sept. 6 – 7

    What: Springville’s annual art festival is returning for its fourth year. Kicking off at 3 p.m. Friday, it will be filled with artist vendor booths, art activities, food vendors, and more. Friday night will also have a live show with local band The Salamanders. Gates will open at 6 p.m. and the concert will start at 8.

    (Springville Arts Festival)

    Festivities will continue Saturday, both at the park, and different locations throughout the town, spanning into the Springville Museum of Art. The Rivoli Theater will have short film screenings from local filmmakers and The Springville Library will host live musical performances and the outdoor space for the Chalk The Walk event.

    Timpanogos Storytelling Festival

    Where: Ashton Gardens at Thanksgiving Point

    When: Sept. 6 – 7

    What: Join the Ashton Gardens this weekend for storytelling fun, music, entertainment, puppets and magic shows, pottery, food, a balloon art display, and more. Tickets can be bought ahead of the event, and a schedule of stories can be viewed online .

    Utah State Fair

    Where: Utah State Fairpark

    When: Sept. 5 -15

    Utah State Fair 2023

    What: The annual Utah State Fair started this week and will be going until Sept. 15. The fair has plenty to see — such as carnival rides, farm animals, extreme dog shows, the classic Butter Cow , a demolition derby, a monster truck rally, and much more. There will also be concerts featuring The All-American Rejects, John Fogerty, and Dustin Lynch. Visit utahstatefair.com to buy tickets and for more information.
