WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI) – A longtime Watertown eatery has closed its doors on Monday, May 13.

The Red Lobster location on Arsenal Street in Watertown has closed abruptly.

A search on the restaurant’s website showed that the Watertown location as “temporarily closed.” A further looked at the 20831 Arsenal Street location’s Facebook page shows the same message when looking for the company’s hours.

The seafood chain has been struggling with operating losses as of late. Earlier in the year, Red Lobster’s owner, Thai Union Group, said that it was trying to actively pursue a buyer for the company.

Red Lobster was considering filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last month an effort to restructure its debt.

The nearest locations to Watertown are now Kingston, Ontario in Canada and New Hartford and Liverpool.
