St. Lawrence Co. DA announces sentencing in murder of Gouverneur inmate

CANTON, N.Y. (WWTI) – The St. Lawrence County District Attorney’s Office announced that a state prison inmate that admitted to killing his cellmate has been sentenced 18 years to life.

District Attorney Gary Pasqua’s office announced that 49-year-old Wilfredo Noe was sentenced for the killing of 26-year-old Luigi Cappellino.

The murder took place in June 2023 at the Gouverneur Correctional Facility. Noe pleaded guilty to the crime in May of this year. Authorities said that Noe strangled Cappellino while the two were having altercation.

The district attorney’s office said the sentence will be served in addition to the sentence that Noe is already serving.

He was indicted by a grand jury on murder, manslaughter, assault, strangulation and assault charges.
