MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Temperatures again today rise to critical levels, with heat advisories for some of our southern counties. We’ll be in the upper 90s today, with heat index values possibly into the triple digits. Mostly sunny and rainless skies make the already blistering heat unrelenting, so make sure you have ways of staying cool throughout today. Drink plenty of water and take plenty of shaded or air conditioned breaks if you are working or doing activities outdoors.
N’spire Walker to host a music video shoot on Sunday, July 21st
MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) -On Sunday, July 21st, a music video shoot will start at 3 p.m. at the Copeland Center for N’spire Walker’s new line dance, which is coming soon. This music video aims to connect with the youth, adults, students, and teachers in a positive environment while utilizing the power of music and building relationships.
The 1st week of July will be hotter than average
MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - June was hot (as expected), and July is starting off with sweltering heat. Highs will be above the average all week with highs in the mid-upper 90s. Specifically for Tuesday, Meridian will have record challenging heat with an expected high of 99 degrees. Tuesday’s record high for the city is 101 degrees (set in 1977), so we’ll see what happens. Regardless, it’ll remain humid, and heat indices will range between 105 -110. This is dangerous heat, and anyone could suffer from heat illnesses quickly if heat precautions aren’t taken: https://www.weather.gov/safety/heat.

A Mississippi man has pleaded guilty to threatening a United States judge and federal law enforcement officer, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office Eastern District of Arkansas.
Records set for saltwater fishing in June
The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources certified two state saltwater fishing records for June. The first honored is Nathan Bosarge of Biloxi.
