One person dead after weekend crash in St. Lawrence County

GOUVERNEUR, N.Y. (WWTI) – A 23-year-old Jefferson County man is dead after a weekend crash in the town of Gouverneur.

New York State Police said Gianfranco Jones-Ortiz of Philadelphia was traveling on State Route 58 around 5 a.m. Saturday morning when he failed to negotiate a curve.

Authorities said Jones-Ortiz went off the road, and hit a tree.

He was transported to Gouverneur Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
