The Texas High School Powerlifting Association held their state meet at the Taylor County Expo Center on March 23 in Abilene, Texas.

Yorktown athletes Hunter Hall and Johnathon Guerrero both medaled in 1-2A Division 4. Guerrero participated in the 132 lb. weight division and had an overall 1455 lb. total. He squatted 460 lbs., benched 250 lbs., and deadlifted 445 lbs. For his efforts he was awarded a bronze medal. At the completion of the squat, Guerrero was in second place, however by the end of bench press, he slid into fourth. Relentless in his efforts, Guerrero battled to the medal stand during the dead lift.

Senior Hall had a silver medal performance in the Super Heavyweight Class. His 700 lb squat had him temporarily tied for first. Unfortunately, he fell into second place after posting 435 lbs on bench press. Hall maintained the position after tallying 530 lbs in deadlift. His overall total was 1,665 lbs.

As a team, the two lifters accumulated 8 points and placed seventh overall.
