ABILENE, Texas ( KTAB/KRBC ) – An Abilene man who brought skittles, whiskey, and condoms to meet a “teen” for sex has been found guilty.

Jose Luis Espinoza Jr., 38, was found guilty of attempted enticement of a minor after a two-day trial in May, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas.

The press release states that Snyder police officers were posing as a 13-year-old girl during an undercover sting operation online when they contacted Espinoza in February.

Espinoza immediately began discussing sexual activity and requesting photographs from the “teen”, even after the profile told him she was almost 14.

“You really are a kid, aren’t you,” he wrote in one message. “I’m a h***y old guy… guys get locked up for talking to girls like you.”

A couple of days after talking to the profile, Espinoza agreed to bring the child Skittles and whiskey in exchange for sexual activity. He then arrived at a park with Skittles, whiskey, condoms, a towel, and a gun.

However, officers were there to greet him instead of the teen he was expecting, and he was arrested.

Espinoza is now facing 10 years to life in prison.

No further information is available at this time.
