Another Pet Project for Hawley
In 2014 the Cormorant Daze Committee decided to run a Mayor Election for the Village of Comorant in conjunction with their summertime festival “Cormorant Daze.” Duke was the winner, in a landslide. Duke was a dog. Not just any dog, a dog who dedicated his life to the service of the good people of the village. Quoting from the Hawley Herald “Duke was the most regal kind-hearted Mayor anyone could ask for.” Sadly, Duke has moved on to govern the Rainbow Bridge. Tammy Odegaard, staff writer for the Herald continues “Although we will never be able to replace Duke, we all know time moves on and for the good of the village, it is time to elect a new mayor. With the whole country being a buzz with election news, the committee thought perhaps now would be a great time.” Nominations have been submitted and the race is down to 4. After careful consideration, a prestigious panel of judges named the four candidates for Cormorant Mayor.
