Gov. Brian Kemp announced Monday his appointment of Adairsville Mayor Kenneth Carson to serve on the state’s Criminal Justice Coordinating Council.

Carson has been mayor of Adairsville for almost 10 years and has been in law enforcement for over 36 years. He’s second in command at the City of Calhoun Police Department and was promoted to lieutenant colonel in February. He also serves as the District 1 representative on Georgia Municipal Association’s Municipal Training Board and on the GMA’s Legislative Policy Council.

As mayor, Carson has served on the board of advisors for the Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training Council for the Pickens and Rome regional police academies.

Carson also serves his community as a member of the Kiwanis Club International, Adairsville Lions Club, and Lions Club International. He and his family reside in Adairsville.
