MANCHESTER, MI – Crowds of people, plates of chicken and plenty of smiles made up the 71st annual Manchester Chicken Broil on Saturday. The popular event July 20 at Alumni Memorial Field, brought together around 8,000 thousand people as roughly 400 volunteers made 10,000 dinners to raise money to update the field’s facilities and buildings.

The Manchester District Library will host Janet from River Raisin Beekeepers Club on Saturday, August 3, at 11am in the upstairs lounge on the mezzanine level. Learn about these wonderful creatures and the beekeepers that take care of them. This presentation will cover both the history of bees and beekeeping as well as how to start your own hive.
