Aberdeen Man Dies In Thurston County Hit & Run
An Aberdeen man is being identified as the person killed last Friday in a hit and run out of Thurston County. Grays Harbor Scanner reports that 50 year old Denver Davis, of Aberdeen, was walking along the shoulder of US 101 Friday night when he was hit by an SUV being driven by a Tennessee man. Washington State Patrol says the 27 year old driver stopped but then fled the scene. He’s being charged with vehicular homicide and DUI.
Thurston County sheriff stops to answer call of nature, discovers domestic violence suspect
Thurston County Sheriff Derek Sanders had a well-timed bathroom break Saturday night, according to his own post on social media. About 11 p.m. Saturday, his department was responding to multiple domestic violence calls, including one on state Route 507 in Yelm where a man allegedly was prowling on the victim's property and sending threatening text messages.
Letter to the editor: We must work together to pursue treatments and solutions in face of 911 call center strain
I am writing in response to Commissioner Sean Swope’s recent commentary regarding the Lewis County 911 call center. Swope reports that he has received “alarming reports from two residents” whose 911 calls were routed to voicemail. He goes on to take a “deeper dive” into Centralia police reports related to trespassing. He purports that local businesses “often perceive such incidents as severe enough to warrant urgent police intervention due to the risks they pose to staff and customers.”

The collision occurred on US 101 just north of State Route 8 in Thurston County. The Washington State Patrol says that Davis was walking on the right shoulder when he was struck by a red 2024 Honda HR-V driven by a 27-year-old Murfreesboro, TN man that was traveling northbound on US 101.
