ADRIAN — An attorney for a retired Adrian pastor accused of molesting two boys was given more time Monday to gather information to determine how to proceed with the case.

Michael Ronald Goble's attorney, Salvatore Molaro Jr. of the Lenawee County Public Defender's Office, asked for the additional time during a probable cause conference in Lenawee County District Court. Judge Laura J. Schaedler granted Molaro's request, scheduled a new probable cause conference for Aug. 5 and canceled the preliminary examination scheduled for July 29.

Goble, 75, was arrested June 13 after Adrian police investigated a report by a 12-year-old boy that Goble had molested him while he was at Goble's home to help with hard work in late June. While investigating the initial report, officers were told the boy's older brother had a similar experience with Goble in 2022.

Goble is charged with two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a person younger than 13. The charges are punishable by up to 15 years in prison.

Schaedler asked if more charges will be filed against Goble. Lenawee County Assistant Prosecutor Phebie McClure said those cases are still being reviewed for possible charges.

Last week during a bond hearing for Goble , McClure told Schaedler that since his arrest that more people have reported possible criminal acts by Goble dating back to 1984. The Adrian Police Department and Lenawee County Sheriff's Office are conducting a joint investigation. "Locations of significance" may include the Maurice Spear Campus juvenile detention facility, the Church of the Good Shepherd and Goble's home.

Schaedler reduced Goble's bond from $150,000 to $100,000 at that hearing. He appeared in court in person Monday from the Lenawee County Jail.
