Valparaiso Girl Scout shares American flag etiquette as 4th of July approaches
American flags are everywhere this week, as the Fourth of July approaches. One Girl Scout has made it her mission to teach others about flag care, flag code, flag folding and flag retirement.She even created a pamphlet with tips.ABC7 Chicago is now streaming 24/7. Do You Like To COOK? You Can Enter the Fresh Start Menu Competition on July 27th – Valpo
Fresh Start Food Trucks is hosting a Menu Competition on Saturday, July 27th from 11am – 2pm at Living Hope Church, located at 1115 Calumet Ave, Valparaiso. Anyone is invited to compete with their favorite recipe. Winners will be voted on by the audience. Funds from this campaign will be used to purchase and update a food truck, which will be solely run by formerly incarcerated individuals and will operate primarily outside the Porter County Jail and other justice-oriented buildings.

On June 26, the GreatNews.Life (GNL) core staff held its second quarterly meeting of the year at the Valparaiso Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana. After the team celebrated the company’s recent successes and discussed what lies ahead, Lauren Roths, club director of the Valpo branch, took them on a tour of the nearly two-year-old facility. The GNL team members learned more about the club’s programs, talked with some of the kids at the club, and even tried out some of the facility’s features for themselves. Roths believes that the Valpo branch of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana has had a significant positive impact on the community.
Valparaiso University unveils new marquee sign on corner of 30 and Sturdy
Valparaiso University (VU) has long been a beacon in the Valparaiso community. From educational opportunities to events for the whole family, VU always has a lot happening on campus. To keep the community informed, VU unveiled a brand new marquee on July 1 in a small ceremony alongside project donors from the Vinay and Suman Das Foundation. The sign sits on the corner of US-30 and Sturdy Road, front and center for all traveling by.
