Faith Leader Condemns Project 2025's Mass Deportation

Says mass deportation reflects lack of Christian values

A Tennessee faith leader affiliated with the Southern Christian Coalition is speaking out on what she says is a blueprint for mass deportation in a second Trump Administration.

In a video statement, Rev. Cherisna Jean-Marie said Project 2025 undermines America's promise of freedom and opportunity.

"As a faith leader, I believe that the same is true today as it has always been in America. All of us, regardless of race or ethnicity deserve the right and freedom to move in order to make a better life for our families. Immigrant Americans have always moved here for the promise of freedoms that all of us cherish. This country is a country of immigrants. Yet Project 2025 prioritizes massive deportation that would lead to millions of immigrants who have been living and working in the US for decades to be pulled from their families and deported instead of the alternative of making both a strong border and a path to citizenship."

Jean-Marie is the Dean at The Disciples Divinity House.

She cited her own family history to support her claim that America has always stood for opportunity.

"I myself come from an immigrant family. My parents moved her from Haiti for a better opportunity for my siblings and I here in America. They have contributed to this society, worked blue collar jobs, sent all of their children to college, and now my siblings and I have become responsible citizens in this country, contributing to society, because of the sacrifice of my parents and the opportunities we were blessed with in America. Everyone deserves the same opportunity."
