Local SCC Staff Graduate from Regional Leadership Academy

Four employees from Southwestern Community College (SCC) have completed a nine-month training program at the Western Community College Leadership Academy (WCCLA). The program, which focuses on developing future college leaders, ended with a graduation ceremony on April 26 at A-B Tech Community College in Asheville.

The graduates are Kristan Blanton, Director of Enrollment Management; Jennifer Brooks, an English Instructor; Ed Nagy, Student Services Director for the Macon Campus; and Megan Nicholson, Emergency Services/Safety Coordinator. They were honored for their commitment and potential in leadership within education.

The WCCLA was founded in 2021 and includes Southwestern, A-B Tech Community College, Blue Ridge Community College, and Haywood Community College. Its goal is to train leaders who can think strategically and collaborate effectively across educational institutions.
