In a blockbuster NBA trade Friday, the Atlanta Hawks sent All-Star guard Dejounte Murray to the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for a package including Akron native and Revere High School graduate Larry Nance Jr.

The full trade, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, sends Murray to New Orleans for Nance Jr., Dyson Daniels, a 2025 first-round pick (via the Los Angeles Lakers) and a 2027 first-round pick (the least favorable draft position between the Milwaukee Bucks and Pelicans).

The trade ends Atlanta's dueling banjos backcourt situation that included Murray and fellow All-Star guard Trae Young. The tandem compiled an underwhelming 55-62 record together in Atlanta.

In return, Atlanta moves forward with the veteran Nance, along with the Australian-born Daniels who showed promise in 2023-24 as a rookie, as well as two future first rounders.

The Hawks will be the fifth NBA team for which Nance has played, joining the Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Lakers, Portland Trail Blazers and Pelicans.

Nance is the son of former NBA player Larry Nance, a former Slam Dunk champion, and the brother of Pete Nance, who plays for the Cleveland Charge of the G League.

Nance signed a contract extension with New Orleans in October 2022.
