    Ramp from SR 8 south to I-76 east closing and other road work to know about this week

    Drivers in the Akron area will have some new construction obstacles to contend with next week, according to ODOT and Akron's Traffic Engineering Division.

    Beginning on Monday night, the ramp from state Route 8 southbound to Interstate 76 eastbound will be closed through late August. The detour will be I-76 west to the I-76 Kenmore leg to Interstate 277 east to Interstate 77 north to I-76 east.

    West Waterloo Road between 27th Street SW and 26th Street SW will be closed Monday for sanitary sewer work. Eastbound traffic will be detoured using Wooster Road, U.S. 224 west, West State Street and U.S. 224 east to West Waterloo Road.

    Westbound traffic will be detoured using U.S. 224 west, West State Street, U.S. 224 east, and Wooster Road to West Waterloo Road.

    The work is expected to be completed by July 19.

    On Monday and Thursday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., ODOT District 4 will close Archwood Avenue between Burkhardt Avenue and Coventry Street to pour the concrete ramp from I-77 south to Archwood Avenue.

    Eastbound traffic will be detoured using Brown Street, North Firestone Boulevard and Coventry Street. Westbound traffic will be detoured using Coventry Street, Cole Avenue and Brown Street.

    Beginning Monday, July 15, Perkins Street at SR 8 will have lane restrictions through mid-August for utility work.

    New construction in Coventry, Copley, Macedonia, Hudson

    Starting Sunday night, I-77 southbound in Coventry Township between I-277/U.S. 224 and Arlington Road will have nightly lane restrictions between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. for resurfacing.

    In Copley Township, work on state Route 21 northbound under I-77 is expected to reopen early Monday morning after crews closed it Friday for bridge work. The detour is I-77 southbound to Ridgewood Road to I-77 northbound.

    In Macedonia, ODOT expects nightly ramp closures from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. at the I-271/SR 8 interchange for milling and resurfacing. The work is scheduled through July 13.

    Starting Monday in Hudson, state Route 91 between Veterans Way and Ravenna Street will be closed through late July. The detour will be Terex Road to state Route 303 to SR 91. Pedestrians and bicyclists will be detoured to Veterans Way to Milford Drive to SR 303.

    In Barberton, Wooster Road east of State Street will be closed on Friday through the morning of July 15 for pavement replacement. The detour will be State Street to the I-76 ramps/access road to Wooster Road.

    Also in Barberton, Wooster Road west of State Street will be closed from 8 p.m. July 19 to 6 a.m. July 22 for pavement replacement. The detour will be Norton Avenue to Fairview Avenue to 5th Street to State Street to Wooster Road.
