More Rite Aid stores in Akron area confirm plans to close. Where will prescriptions go?

All Rite Aid stores in Summit, Medina and Portage counties are closing as the company progresses through Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Following the Beacon Journal's reporting of Rite Aids closing in Tallmadge, on E. Waterloo Road in Akron, in the Portage Lakes area of Green and in Barberton, the Beacon Journal on Thursday confirmed the rest of the closures with store associates at individual stores.

An employee of the Rite Aid at 1914 Bailey Road in Cuyahoga Falls, who declined to give his full name, said the store's pharmacy will close Aug. 7 and the rest of the store will close Sept. 15.

The employee said prescription records will be sent to Walgreens — which is what employees of multiple other closing Rite Aid stores have said — and added that customers with prescriptions can refill them at their nearest Walgreens.

A store manager at the Rite Aid at 207 N. Court St. in Medina said prescription records from that location also will be sent to Walgreens but did not provide any other details about the location's impending closure.

Employees of the Rite Aid at 1540 Canton Road in Akron, the Wadsworth Rite Aid at 780 High St. and the Garrettsville Rite Aid at 10764 North St. confirmed closures of those stores but declined to provide information about where prescriptions are going.
