AKRON , Ohio (WJW) — It’s that time of year again. The All-American Soap Box Derby World Championships have returned to Akron.

Hundreds of racers paraded through downtown on Monday in celebration of the 86th All-American Soap Box Derby.

If JD Vance becomes VP, what happens in the Senate?

“I wanted to experience something new,” said 11-year-old Ana Orozco.

Races start Tuesday, with the World Championship set for Saturday.

This year’s derby features 320 racers from across the world.

“It’s almost like a reunion. It’s like derby nation coming together and having a big reunion,” said Scott Taylor, president and CEO of the derby.
