Vivian Leggett, a member of the Aultman Health Foundation team for more than 40 years, was named earlier this year as general vice chair for the 2024 festivities surrounding the annual Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement.

She, along with General Chair Kimberly Davenport, will manage more than 2,500 volunteers who help with the planning, coordination and execution of all events.

Leggett has held a variety of responsibilities in the clinical arena, including leadership roles as a nurse manager, assistant vice president of management development, hotel services and medical nursing. Prior to joining the Aultman Foundation leadership team, she was vice president for community engagement at Aultman College.

“In my current role, I work collaboratively to connect grateful communities with philanthropic opportunities within the Aultman organization," she said.

She also is active with various committees and boards throughout the community. Leggett is the immediate past chairperson of Women’s Impact Inc., a member of the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank Endowment Board and most recently the chair for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinees’ Roundtable.

Leggett is a graduate from Kent State University with an associate degree in nursing, Ashland University with a bachelor degree in nursing and the University of Akron with a master's in nursing.

She and her husband, Don, have an adult daughter named Katie, who lives in New Albany with her husband and family.

What is your role and duties as the vice chair of the volunteers for the Hall of Fame Enshrinement week activities?

As vice chair, I have a unique opportunity to further promote and showcase the incredible events and activities that Enshrinement Week has to offer. I have a great mentor in Kim Davenport and will take every opportunity to learn from her.

From the Community Parade to Enshrinement Saturday and the Concert for Legends, each event holds its own special significance and offers something memorable for attendees.

My goal is to contribute to the success and continued excellence of the Hall of Fame Enshrinement Week activities.

Share what you are most excited about with serving as vice chair.

My hope is that my experience as a volunteer for the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce's activities has prepared me well for this new challenge as vice chair. I am excited to share with the entire community and beyond how wonderful each and every event of Enshrinement Week is.

From the Community Parade to Enshrinement Saturday to the Concert for Legends and everything between, there is something for everyone to enjoy. My passion for sharing these experiences with the entire community and beyond will hopefully inspire others to get involved and participate in the festivities.

What do you think the top three positives the volunteers bring to the Hall of Fame festivities?

Volunteers are the heart of the Hall of Fame festival.

Their passion and dedication not only enhance the experience for visitors but also showcase the unique qualities and attractions of our community. Volunteers who love both the sport of football and their community can truly make a difference by sharing their enthusiasm and knowledge with visitors from near and far.

Their ability to highlight local gems, recommend the best places to dine or shop, and provide insights into the Hall of Fame Enshrinement activities adds immeasurable value to the overall experience.

It's through their genuine interactions and willingness to go the extra mile that visitors can truly feel welcomed and connected to the Stark County community.

Personally, what is the most rewarding and the most challenging about volunteering in general?

I approach each volunteer opportunity as a chance to learn something new and connect with others within our community and beyond. The Grand Parade and the Balloon Classic's fireworks show are both incredible experiences, and I hope to share my enthusiasm for these and all Enshrinement Week events.

A callout for more volunteers is essential for ensuring the continued success and vitality of the festival. Engaging the next generation of volunteers will ensure that the traditions and spirit of community involvement are carried forward for years to come. The festival simply cannot happen without the dedication and time of our community volunteers. I invite you and others to join in on the fun and excitement by not only strengthening the community but also fostering a sense of unity and pride in being part of something special. Why do you feel volunteering is important to a person, an organization and a community?

Volunteering truly is a rewarding experience, both for the volunteers themselves and for the communities they serve. It's inspiring to see the more than 2,500 volunteers coming together to contribute their time and skills to make the Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival a success.

Giving back not only strengthens communities it also fosters a sense of unity and pride among its members. I hope more people will be inspired to join in and make a positive impact.
