The 911 calls reporting the shooting and eventual death of 24-year-old Paige Calich in Summit Lake on Sunday confirm a grim scene unfolding as people could be heard screaming in the background.

"She's gone, she's (expletive) gone," one caller was heard saying amidst the shouting.

Calich was reportedly in an altercation earlier in the day leading to her death, according to a few of the 911 calls released by the Akron Police Department.

"The people across the street have been having drama all night," one caller could be heard saying.

Another caller reported Calich had been in an altercation "for a while" in the hours prior to being shot, but they did not know what the shooter looked like.

"It sounds like a young woman was shot in her ribcage. I don't know if she's breathing," the caller said.

Multiple neighbors called to report sounds of gunfire coming from the Summit Lake apartment complex, with one caller reporting she saw a young Black man wearing a red jacket and holding a gun fleeing the scene.

"He shouted, 'I told y'all...I wasn't playing' and he was just shooting across the street," the neighbor said. "I just heard a young girl screaming. I don't know which direction he ran."

A few callers screamed for emergency services to try to save Calich's life.

"We need an ambulance right now, she's not breathing," another caller noted. "Someone was shot in her apartment, we need you to come now."

"There's blood everywhere, she's bleeding from her mouth," another caller said.

Officers originally responded around 12:30 a.m. Sunday to reports of a shooting at 14 Socrates Place. Upon arrival, police discovered Calich had a gunshot wound to the torso. She was subsequently transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

In an incident report obtained by the Beacon Journal, Akron police say Calich was shot by someone who broke into her apartment.

Corvette Pope, 25, was arrested Tuesday in connection to Calich's death. A warrant was also issued for 19-year-old Denzel Pope for aggravated murder. Police say he is considered armed and dangerous.
