Man wanted in connection to fatal Summit Lake shooting arrested in Chicago

A man wanted in connection to the Sunday homicide of 24-year-old Paige Calich has been arrested, according to Akron police.

Denzel Pope, 19, was arrested Wednesday night in Chicago, local authorities said in a news release. No other information regarding his arrest was available.

Another suspect, 25-year-old Corvette Pope , was arrested Tuesday by Akron law enforcement. Police said tips from the community helped track down the suspect. A warrant was issued for Denzel the same day and police warned that he was considered armed and dangerous.

Paige Calich killed in Akron shooting

Officers responded around 12:30 a.m. Sunday to reports of a shooting at 14 Socrates Place. Upon arrival, police discovered Calich had a gunshot wound to the torso. She was subsequently transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Calich was reportedly involved in a fight prior to the shooting, police reported.

In an incident report obtained by the Beacon Journal, Akron police say Calich was shot by someone who broke into her apartment.

911 callers describe scene after shooting, elude to prior fight

Calich was reportedly in an altercation earlier in the day leading to her death, according to a few of the 911 calls released by the Akron Police Department.

"The people across the street have been having drama all night," one caller could be heard saying.

Another caller reported Calich had been in an altercation "for a while" in the hours prior to being shot, but they did not know what the shooter looked like.

A few callers screamed for emergency services to try to save Calich's life.
