The upcoming sobriety checkpoints will be "across Summit County" from the evening of July 5 to the morning of July 6, according to a release from the task force. AKRON, Ohio – More than 1,400 people will take part in the National Interstate 8k race in Downtown Akron on Saturday – the first of three races in the Akron Marathon Race Series. Among them will be first-time participant Kathryn Eastgate of Akron. Eastgate, 40, has undergone ankle reconstruction surgery and lost 180 pounds in order to participate in the race, she said.
