Ruidoso Downs Racing Moved to Albuquerque for Remainder of Season
Plans are continuing to be made for Ruidoso Downs Race Track’s 2024 season to move to the Downs of Albuquerque starting this Friday, July 26. Racing will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday with post time scheduled for 12:30 p.m. each day. Stakes events that were postponed last weekend including the $800,000 Rainbow Derby, $100,000 Rainbow Invitational, and $480,000 Rainbow Oaks Presented by Rolling Still Vodka and Ponderosa Whiskey will be held this Saturday and Sunday. The $350,000 Zia Futurity and $170,000 Zia Derby will also be run this weekend.

Following are the rankings for both types of courses, as judged by our nationwide network of raters. The hundreds of members of our course-ratings panel continually evaluate courses and rate them on 10 criteria on a points basis of 1 through 10. They also file a single, overall rating on each course. Those overall ratings are averaged to produce all our Golfweek’s Best course rankings.

Baseball Earns ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award
New Mexico Baseball has been awarded the 2023-24 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award, the organization announced Wednesday. Teams from every level of college and high school baseball — over 800 in total — were honored with this year’s award, which highlights programs coached by ABCA members that posted a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale for the cumulative 2023-24 academic year. The Lobo baseball program posted a 3.435 cumulative GPA over the 2023-2024 academic year to qualify.
