(ALAMOSA, Colo.) — A tip from a watchful community member led to the arrest of a suspect in a triple shooting at the Sunset Inn Hotel in Alamosa on Sunday, June 24.
The manhunt began on Sunday morning, after shots were fired around 2 a.m. at the Sunset Inn Hotel on West 8th Street in Alamosa. When officers of the Alamosa Police Department (APD) arrived on scene, they found three victims had been shot. APD reported that a person of interest, 44-year-old Henry Corral, left the scene and was later involved in a crash on County Road 106 and 12 South. He allegedly attempted to carjack a car before running away.
Multiple agencies responded to search for Corral, including the U.S. Marshals Service, Colorado Bureau of Investigation, Fountain Police Department, and Colorado Department of Corrections. The U.S. Marshals Air Surveillance Unit in Denver also deployed to aid in the search. Once on scene, all agencies met up with APD and the Alamosa County Sheriff’s Office to conduct numerous interviews and go door-to-door as far west as Del Norte, Colorado.
During their search, a tip came in from a local who reported that they had seen Corral at a farm near the intersection of County Road 106 South and County Road 10 S, approximately five miles southwest of Alamosa. The responding agencies set up a perimeter, and Corral was taken into custody.

“I’d like to recognize and thank the tipster for the information they provided that directly led to the arrest of this dangerous fugitive,” said District of Colorado U.S. Marshal Kirk Taylor. “I would also like to thank and recognize the incredible work of all involved Law Enforcement Officers who pursued Corral with limited information, and yet were able to still safely take him into custody.”
At the time of his arrest, Corral was facing charges of First Degree Murder, two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Possession of a Weapon by a Previous Offender, and Attempted Aggravated Robbery.
