Pure, unbridled power. Some Alaskan anglers went out on the Kenai River to catch some fish, and though they probably did reel in more than a couple of catches, the biggest moment of the day came when a massive moose crashed their fishing spot. Now to be clear, it's not uncommon to see a moose running about in Alaska. There is an estimated population of about 200,000 in our northern-most-state. However, humans rarely ever get to witness a sizable creature like this showing its upmost physical capabilities. If you've ever tried to run into the ocean, you know how hard it can be to sprint in the water. You have to churn those high knees like nobody's business, and the act can quickly tire out even the most in-shape specimens. So take that knowledge and apply it to this video below, and that should give you a good idea of how impressive this moose's water-run is. When the video first begins, the large, antlered animal is in water up to its stomach. Though all of its legs are submerged, it has no trouble at all "turning on the jets" in order to go from walking up stream to
sprinting up stream. The fishermen freeze in their boat as they watch the big beast literally create a wake as it runs through the river (is "Run Through The River" a Bruce Springsteen song? If not, it should be). Lifting its hooves high up in the air, the moose makes the tall task look easy as it makes it away past the fishing boat, down the river, and eventually across it and into the woods later down the line. I don't know about you, but I could sit and watch this video all day long. I can't imagine how cool it must have been to witness the moose's athleticism in person. It's hard to put into words how impressive this moose's run was, but the Kenai River Company did their best to describe it in the caption of the post: "Quite a lot of power that these animals have. Thanks for the show Bullwinkle!"
