    Wanted man accused of burglary, forgery arrested in Albany

    ALBANY, La. (BRPROUD) — A wanted man out of Tangipahoa Parish was arrested by the Albany Police Department.

    According to police, on Monday, July 29, APD was notified about a wanted suspect, Christopher Wittie, being in the area near Julia Street.

    Wittie was wanted by the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office on multiple felony warrants including burglary and forgery.

    “Once Wittie saw APD, he fled on foot. Springfield PD, Killian PD, LPSO Deputies and Detectives were called in to assist and to set up a perimeter. LPSO’s K9s were also requested,” said Albany Police Chief Boyd Wild.

    Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard said, “While on the perimeter, LPSO deputies, our K9 partners & APD officers were directed to Leslie St. Deputies surrounded that residence. Our LPSO K9 would soon locate & apprehend the suspect who was hiding under a tarp.”

    Wittie was arrested and booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center on multiple charges.
