Governor Hochul needs to declare a Climate Emergency
On Wednesday, Governor Kathy Hochul stood outside of a church in Rome, NY for a press conference to declare a State of Emergency after the storm system that produced Hurricane Beryl passed through the state and left scars of destruction in communities like the Town of Eden. During the event, she noted the destruction of the roof and steeple behind her were part of a wider path of destruction that hit the city and the surrounding area and tornado warnings were posted from Jamestown to Plattsburgh. Pointing out that her three-year administration had to deal with more historic nature events than probably anybody in history, she added “These extreme weather events are no longer the abnormal. They are the new normal.”

The White House has made an open call for the legal community to provide assistance with immigration and asylum cases, as the backlog of cases remains at historical records.
