Turning a dirt trail into ‘community path’
Go down toward the river from the parking lot at Albany’s Talking Water Gardens and turn left. Now you’re on a dirt trail through the brush that leads to Bowman Park. I didn’t know that this trail had a name. But apparently it does. To the City of Albany it’s the South Waterfront Trail, and the city has plans for it.

Willamette Valley Conservation Area: New wildlife refuge announced
CORVALLIS, Ore. — The U.S. Department of Fish and Wildlife on Wednesday announced a new wildlife refuge. Government representatives, conservationists, and tribal spokespeople gathered Wednesday morning at William L. Finley National Wildlife Refuge on the outskirts of Corvallis to announce the establishment of a new wildlife refuge called the Willamette Valley Conservation Area.
Ordinance approval officially annexes property into city
The Philomath City Council approved an ordinance to annex 3.56 acres of property into the city during its Monday night meeting at Philomath City Hall. The council last month approved the annexation of a 1.99-acre property along with a section of North Ninth Street. Public hearings were held before the Planning Commission on June 17 and City Council on July 22.
