State will support board on PCBs
NEWPORT — The North Country Union High School board hosted several of the state’s highest officials at an emergency meeting Monday night. The purpose was to discuss what to do if levels of PCBs (Polychlorinated Biphenyls) in the wing housing most classrooms are not cut sufficiently after current mitigation efforts are completed in mid-August. The main question on the table was, will students be able to have in-person instruction when school opens, or will there be a return to remote learning while work to reduce PCB contamination continues….

Friday, 7/19: Montgomery’s Town Library held its 15th Annual Silent Auction at Phineas Swan. It started early to accommodate the show at The Inn later that same evening. There were some great items donated to be bid on including quilts, paintings, gift cards, and treasures. Everyone was greeted with a glass of wine and a table with fantastic finger foods. The handmade furniture made by Pat Farmer was the big attraction. It was a wonderful fun-filled fundraiser evening.
