Albert Lea finance director to retire in December

Jennifer Walsh, executive director of finance and operations for Albert Lea Area Schools, will retire in December, according to action taken Monday by the school board in its regular vote of appointments, retirements and other movement of employees in the district.

Walsh, who has worked in the role since July 2019, prior to that worked in similar roles in Faribault Public Schools and Byron Public Schools. She also worked for a time in the Waterville-Elysian-Morristown School District and for two years in Owatonna Public Schools.

Walsh started with the Albert Lea district after Deputy Superintendent and Executive Director of Finance and Operations Lori Volz left for a similar job with Austin Public Schools.

There has not been discussion yet about filling the role.

Walsh’s retirement will be effective Dec. 13.
