Regulation Changes Coming to Lake Mille Lacs
Minnesota DNR officials met with the Mille Lacs Advisory committee this week. Glen Schmitt from Outdoor News joined me on WJON. He says big regulation changes are expected to happen. Schmitt says starting on August 16 anglers will be able to keep two walleyes on Mille Lacs from 18 to 20 inches. The angling pressure was about 1/3 of what the DNR had projected which means only 26% of the allowable harvest was taken this year and that was catch and release mortality because catch and release was the only thing allowed.
The Iron House Opening This Week
The Iron House, a new games and axe throwing venue in Hibbing, Minn., is set to open this week, Aug. 8, reports WDIO. In addition to the axe throwing, there will be interactive darts, table games and more. The venue will be all ages until 8 p.m., when they’ll be 18-and-up. Kid-friendly options during the day include a Velcro overlay on the axe-throwing targets.
Minnetonka Celebrates Fifth Year as a Step 5 City in Minnesota's GreenSteps Sustainability Program
Minnetonka, a suburban city found on the outskirts of the Twin Cities in Minnesota, has once again stepped up its game in the sustainability arena. The city has been recognized by the Minnesota GreenSteps Cities program as a Step 5 city, a distinction it has now claimed for the fifth straight year. This program, which closely monitors and promotes sustainability efforts across a variety of areas, has seen Minnetonka submitting 100 data entries annually to meet Step 4 criteria.

Minnesota Severe Storms Alert: Potential Large Hail and Damaging Winds Saturday
Duluth, MN – The National Weather Service in Duluth, Minnesota, has issued a warning for potential strong to severe storms on Saturday afternoon and evening. Quick moving storm leaves its mark
HIBBING—Cleanup was ongoing Thursday morning following a swift moving storm with high winds that swept through the area at about 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday causing downed trees, broken branches, some hail and some power outages across the region.
