Top tier position group for WVU women's hoops
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Preseason athletics coverage is, by dint of its position on the calendar, often skewed to the optimistic. There's enthusiasm from the players and coaches in getting back on the courts and fields, there aren't any negative results from previous games to rehash, and the general health of teams is probably as good or better than it will be at any other point during the year.
Breaking down WVU Football’s 2024 Schedule
8/31 – vs. Penn State. Quite easily the biggest game on the WVU schedule comes in at week one. Most fans were hoping to see the highly anticipated ‘coal rush’ theme be place for a night game against the Nittany Lions. However, this rematch from last season will feature the Big Noon Kickoff crew for Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff game.
LISTEN: West Virginia football camp preview
The opener will be here before you know it, but don't take preseason camp for granted. Yup, West Virginia is in a good spot to start head coach Neal Brown's sixth season, but that doesn't mean the Mountaineers will coast through camp. How do you feel about the receivers and the linebackers? Better question: What position doesn't concern you at all? How can WVU generate depth? What's the soundtrack for musical chairs in the defensive backfield? Traylon Ray did what? All that and more is on the way once you press play. (Direct link: HERE)

GRANVILLE, W.Va. — The West Virginia Black Bears and the Trenton Thunder battled it out in Sunday's rubber match at Kendrick Family Ballpark, with the Thunder snatching game three and the series with a final score of 7-3. After Saturday night’s 12-8 loss, the Bears looked to rebound on Sunday afternoon, but the Thunder defense proved too much for them to overcome.
Aidan Major Forgoes Remaining Eligibility, Signs with Guardians
West Virginia right-handed pitcher Aidan Major was selected with the 146th overall pick (fifth round) by the Cleveland Guardians in the 2024 MLB First-Year Player Draft earlier this month. Being drafted that high often leads to a player signing and leaving college early, but there was some thought that Major could potentially increase his draft stock by returning to WVU. Instead, the junior opted to sign with the Guardians to begin his professional career. Major appeared in 14 games this past season, making 12 starts. In 66 innings of work, he punched out 77 batters while walking 35, and surrendering...

Recruiting efforts in-state paying off for West Virginia
Under head coach Neal Brown, West Virginia has been known for keeping the state’s best at home and on the field and it has started to pay dividends. There are a few exceptions since inheriting the football program in January 2019 but for the most part, the program has been able to follow through on the promise he made when he was hired.
