    Albuquerque Fire Rescue receives 1,200+ illegal fireworks calls

    ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – It was a busy night for first responders on Thursday night as people lit up illegal fireworks across the city. The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office said starting on Monday, they received 160 calls for fireworks. 70 of those calls happened between July 4 and early Friday morning.

    According to Albuquerque Fire Rescue, between July 1 and 4, they received more than 1,200 firework complaints with 168 of those being issued cease and desist orders. Crews also responded to 49 outside fires.

    The Rio Rancho Fire Department said they also received 150 reports of illegal fireworks and confiscated 50 commercial-grade mortars and a dozen launch tubes.
