ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Albuquerque Police Department (APD) is investigating, what they’re calling, a “confrontation over an anti-Trump sign.”

APD stated, in a release, an argument over an anti-Trump sign on a vehicle turned violent on Saturday afternoon.

According to the release, officers were called to Central, just west of Carlisle, just before 1:30 p.m.

Two men told police they were displaying an anti-Trump sign in the bed of their pickup truck when a black vehicle stopped near them and started to argue with them.

Police said the men in the pickup claimed the driver of the black car got out and threw a bottle at them when one of them sprayed the driver of the black car with mace.

Witnesses told police the driver of the black vehicle later returned to the area and rammed the pickup from behind, nearly hitting one of the men who was sitting on the tailgate.

The driver of the pickup told police he grabbed a gun from inside the truck and pointed it at the black vehicle before it drove away.

Police said no shots were fired, and detectives are reviewing witness video of the incident. If you have information for police pertaining to this incident, call 505-242-COPS.
