UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones is reportedly facing potential jail time after being charged with two misdemeanors for an incident with a drug testing agent on March 30, according to ESPN's Andreas Hale .

Per a previous police report from ABQ Raw , an agent from Drug Free Sport visited Jones' home in Albuquerque to collect a random sample for drug testing. The star heavyweight was said to have refused a urine test and instead asked to submit a blood sample.

Things allegedly escalated to the point where Jones took the agent's phone and said, “Why are you [expletive] people coming so early? Do you know what happens to people who come to my house? They end up dead.”

In a now-deleted social media post, Jones vowed to "vigorously defend" himself against accusations he deemed "baseless."

"I was recently visited by testers while I was celebrating a birthday and taking a nap. Upon waking up, I was caught off guard by the unprofessionalism and protocol by one of the testers which caused frustration leading me to use some profanity I regret," wrote Jones.

He added, "I want to emphasize that at no point did I threaten, get in anyone's face, raise my voice to anyone or engage in any form of assault."

The charges against Jones include assault and interference with communications. A conviction could carry less than a year of jail time. He also faces a $500 fine for the petty misdemeanor and a $1,000 fine for the second charge.

Jones has been attempting to make a comeback since pulling out of his originally scheduled heavyweight championship fight against Stipe Miocic last November at UFC 295.

He hasn't fought since his first-round submission win over Ciryl Gane way back in March 2023.
