2023 murder suspect admits to killing of 5-year-old

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – One of the five people accused of murdering a five-year-old during a drive-by shooting took responsibility on Monday. Alexander Venzor admitted in court that he opened fire on a mobile home near Blake and Unser in August 2023, killing five-year-old Galilea Samaniego.

Venzor was only 15 at the time. He pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree murder and is facing up to 20 years behind bars as part of the sentencing agreement.

Venzor will also have to testify against the four other co-defendants. Three other teens and an adult are also facing first-degree murder charges.
