ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A judge has dismissed the case against an Albuquerque man accused of murdering another man in his ex-girlfriend’s home two years ago. Fransisco Almeida was accused of breaking into his ex’s house and shooting to death Allen Sandoval in January 2022.

Man sentenced to probation after slashing tires and fleeing

His trial in front of Judge Cindy Leos started on Monday but she dismissed the case on Wednesday and claimed investigators withheld evidence from Almeida’s lawyers. That evidence was disclosed in court for the first time on Wednesday.

Judge Leos scheduled a hearing on October 25 to decide whether the state can refile the charges. Since Almedia’s charges were dismissed, he was released from custody.
