ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Friday marked the end of Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s six-week Summer Challenge pilot program . 30 middle school students across Albuquerque participated in the program to learn about literature, physical fitness, finances, and how to build confidence.

On their final day, students became certified junior lifeguards. “Taking them on all these different outings and field trips have helped build that team camaraderie and have helped them learn that bullying is not okay, it has helped them learn to help each other when they’re down,” said Summer Administrator Jennifer Lemaire-Theus.

The program will be held again next summer.
