ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Two local high school students are meeting with U.S. leaders in Washington D.C. Isabel Fernandez and Sofia Figueroa are doing an internship with Bank of America.

Local organization works to support people transitioning out of incarceration

The internship gives them a firsthand look into the role of businesses and government and how they help communities. The two students were selected out of 40 applicants from New Mexico. Three hundred students across the country were chosen for the internship.

The program will also have them work on special projects with the Explora Science Center and Children’s Museum. Applications for next year’s internship open this November.
