NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions received nearly $6 million with the plan to invest it into getting new people into the workforce. The department said they will use the money for several programs including a pre-apprenticeship that helps participating employers hire new staff that are lacking experience.

“Because we’re their employer, the actual place where they’re working doesn’t have to worry about workers comp, doesn’t have to worry about payroll, doesn’t need to worry about HR. They’re also paired with a career counselor, since for a lot of folks, this is their first job,” said NMDWS Cabinet Secretary Sarita Nair.

Funding will also be used to pay incentives to employers for hiring people in the program. For more information on the program, click this link .
