Ruidoso Downs Race Track to go forward with on-location horse sales

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Ruidoso Downs Race Track is changing course on its horse sales, saying they will stay at the regular venue.

The track and casino recently announced races in 2024 would move to the Downs at Albuquerque due to the Ruidoso Downs track being damaged by continued flooding.

The company was also planning horse sales in Albuquerque but announced they would remain at Ruidoso Downs. They say the Albuquerque Downs was short around 150 stalls of what they needed to conduct the sales.

The New Mexico-bred and all-American select sale will occur next month on separate dates with more than 600 horses expected to be for sale.

Racing is taking place at Albuquerque Downs over the weekend and is expected to remain for the rest of the 2024 season.
