ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Dogs are stressed enough in rescue kennels, but what about dogs that are an extra handful – the dogs that some walk away from?

The Fur-get Me Not adoption event at the Office Bar and Grill in northwest Albuquerque had dogs on the spot, waiting and ready for their forever homes.

Organizers said if you can’t adopt, there are always other ways to get involved to help at-risk pooches from an otherwise difficult life.

Those wanting to help can look to the actions of Ruth Chavez, who is a foster mom that works with the rescue. She said they have adopted three dogs so far.
