The FBI tried to pull Mares over about two months later when authorities said he rammed his car into the FBI’s vehicle and then fled with a child in his car. They said around 10,000 fentanyl pills were dumped from Mares’ car during the chase.

Mars was charged with distribution of substance containing fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute, and assault on a federal officer. If convicted, he faces up to life in prison.
